Modernism and The Prisoner

So... Today i dived into the alien "Prisoner Universe" The Prisoner is a British Television Series that aired on national Television in the late 60's. It is evident that the Series was shot during this period as the set is littered with "Modern" items ranging from room shapes to furniture.  Modernism is the term associated with the changes that were occuring with Visual and Performing arts, other definitions of Modernism are associated with the western movement of questioning religious beliefs and thinking, but thats a whole different topic although you could argue modern designs that envolved "Taboo themes" were influenced by this Modernist movement such examples can be seen with the "Dressing down of Women" and the explosion of intoxicants that was associated with "Hippy Culture."  Modernism in the 60's covered a vast array of industries including FashionInterior designAutomobiles and Furniture.

Instantly you can pick up the consistant theme that is associated with the 60's.  Rounded organic shapes and patterns are visible throughout, bright colours suchy as pink/purple/red/green/orange/black/white/blue are consistantly used. (Article will be continued)
